WWE’s list of banned words has become infamous over the years, and the company has even gone as far as to hand out a memo to Tampa Bay local officials detailing which words they weren’t allowed to use at the WrestleMania 36 press conference earlier this year.
From time to time words do make it off the list, but it looks like another one has been added.
Recently Ricochet has been using the Codebreaker in the ring, but Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that the word “Codebreaker” can no longer be used in WWE.
Chris Jericho has used the Codebreaker in quite a few WWE matches, and the former WWE Champion recently said on Talk Is Jericho that Ricochet texted him and asked permission to use the move. Chris noted that he was ok with Ricochet using the move, but suggested to Ricochet that he might want to change the name.
According to Jericho, Ricochet told him that he was looking for a move that’s less impactful that the 630.
One way or another the 630 got the job done on Sunday night as Ricochet used the move to defeat Samoa Joe and become the new WWE United States Champion at Stomping Grounds.
