Last year Cody Rhodes punched his ticket for WrestleMania 39 when he won the 30 man Royal Rumble match, but he was defeated by The Tribal Chief on the Grandest Stage of Them All. Rhodes has made it clear for some time now that he intends to challenge Roman Reigns once again and he secured another title shot when he won the Royal Rumble for the second year in a row.

This week on Monday Night Raw it seemed that Cody was going to make his match with Roman Reigns official before he was interrupted by Seth Rollins. The Visionary tried to convince Cody that he should be challenging for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania and Cody told Seth that he would think about it.

It seems that WWE is delaying the official announcement because they want to build up some anticipation for the revealed. Dave Meltzer recently noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that, “The idea is they can build up for a week or two and pop a big rating for Cody’s decision.”

Despite WWE teasing a potential Rhodes vs. Rollins match for WrestleMania it appears that Rhodes vs. Reigns is still the plan moving forward. It’s been confirmed that Cody will be appearing on SmackDown this Friday.

Stay tuned for updates.
