A few months prior to Dean Ambrose’s WWE departure, seeds were planted for a Dean Ambrose vs. Nia Jax feud, but it never went anywhere.
Jon Moxley noted on Talk Is Jericho that he found out about the feud the day after he gave his notice to the company.
When he showed up to Raw the next day, he found out that a last minute addition to the script called for him to get physical with Nia Jax, he went directly to Vince McMahon.
Vince told him that Ambrose vs. Jax was supposed to be an attraction, and he was assured that they weren’t trying to bury him. Moxley then said that after they discussed the idea, he was completely on board with the feud, but WWE dropped it for no reason.
Dave Meltzer brought up the angle on Wrestling Observer Radio and said that he was told the angle with Nia Jax was put together to bury Dean Ambrose.
The reason why WWE pulled the plug on the feud is because the feeling was that if they tried to bury Dean Ambrose he would become a martyr, and the fans would get behind him.
