This week’s episode of WWE Monday Night Raw featured a Ricochet vs. Elias match and when it was all said and done it was Ricochet who picked up the victory.
Ricochet hit a sunset flip to pin Elias for the win, but as Elias was being pinned his shoulder was off the mat but the referee counted anyway.
Instead of just going with it, the commentary team then focused on the ref botch.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter the whole referee situation was not a storyline, it was a legitimate botch.
It was also noted that no one would have likely cared, but the announcers were told to play it up like they would if it was real.
Vince McMahon reportedly has a deal of calling out ref mistakes with is why the commentary team harped on it and the replay was shown.
