On Monday WWE announced that AJ Styles, Braun Strowman, Bobby Lashley and The Miz would compete in a Fatal Four-Way elimination match with the winner going on to challenge Seth Rollins for the Universal Championship at Super ShowDown.

However, AJ Styles was pulled from the match due to injury, and Baron Corbin took his place.

When the match came to an end, Baron Corbin picked up the win by pinning The Miz, but fans couldn’t help but notice that WWE didn’t stick to the elimination match format.

According to PWInsider, over the course of the day WWE officials went back and forth on whether the bout should be an elimination match, or if it should just end with a single pin fall.

An argument was made that in order to protect the talents there should not be three falls in the match, and it’s being said that eventually that argument won out, so the match was changed.
