Jey Uso managed to take his career to the next level a few months ago when he defeated Gunther to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 41. Earlier this week on Monday Night Raw, Jey Uso defended the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Gunther in a rematch, and it was The Ring General who walked out with the gold.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that the reason why Jey Uso dropped the WWE World Heavyweight Championship is because Triple H made the call to make Gunther vs. Goldberg a title match at Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 12th. It was noted that this was likely done because Saturday Night’s Main Event will be airing the same day as AEW All In Texas.

According to the report Gunther vs. Goldberg was always going to be Goldberg’s retirement match, and it was always going to go up against All In Texas. The idea is to maximize the day by putting the match on free network TV instead of Netflix as it will air on NBC.

As of this writing WWE has not officially announced his return, but Goldberg is set to appear on the June 16 episode of Monday Night Raw from Green Bay, WI.

It was recently reported that WWE is discussing creative plans for Jey Uso following his loss to Gunther on Raw, and you can get more details on what could be next for the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion here.
