Last week’s episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown gave fans plenty to talk about as the show continued to build the hype for WrestleMania 41. During the show Tiffany Stratton and Charlotte Flair met in the ring for a promo battle, and it was later reported that the two stars went off script during the segment.
Fightful Select is reporting that there was no word on any further confrontations following the promo battle, but they heard Charlotte Flair didn’t appear to be pleased.
A number of talent reached out and noted that Flair is known for calling audibles during promos and in the ring. Two talents also said that Tiffany Stratton had to “fight back” following the split screen promo where it seemed that Charlotte took over.
A long time talent noted that it can be daunting to go after Charlotte Flair in that manner, but it’s something that other talents have to be willing to do to not get “run over.” Another prominently booked talent in the women’s division said that Tiffany Stratton was doing what she had to do.
Several talents believed WWE, Charlotte Flair and Tiffany Stratton should all lean into the angle, but that it seemed like the trajectory of the promo was changed by the crowd.
One course close to Stratton claimed that the WWE Women’s Champion fought back after Charlotte Flair went off script first. It was also claimed that Stratton rolled out of the ring after referencing Charlotte’s divorces as a way to prevent the situation from escalating. The word is that the situation has been boiling over for a while.
According to the report management wasn’t happy with either Stratton or Flair. When the back and forth exchange happened at the end of the promo there were audible “oohs” and “woahs” and general surprise.
