A few months ago NXT relaunched as NXT 2.0, and Bron Breakker has been at the forefront of the brand ever since. Bron Breakker, real name Bronson Rechsteiner, is the son of Rick Steiner as well as the nephew of Scott Steiner, and his ring name has been a hot topic in the world of professional wrestling.

The NXT star recently spoke to Daily DDT about his name, and he revealed that he was the one who came up with Bron Breakker while explaining why he chose the name.

“We were just sitting around one day and I’m like, ‘Well, when I used to block people in football, I used to try to break them in half,’” he said. “That was literally what I tried to do: snap them in half and break them. What if I’m the breaker? I break people, Breakker, and then it came to me. Bron is part of my first name and that’s what we went with.”

Breakker went on to say that he’s focused on standing on his own, but he’s still open to the idea of paying homage to his family history.

“What my dad and uncle did before me with some of their promos and stuff that they’ve done, they’ve laid all this groundwork. There’s all this stuff out there for me to use if I want to. Obviously, I’m not going to bank my entire… that’s not what I’m going for. I want to make a name for myself and stand on my own, but there’s certain things out there we can use.”

Bron Breakker will team with Carmelo Hayes, Grayson Waller, and Tony D-Angelo to face off against Tommaso Ciampa, Pete Dunne, LA Knight, and Johnny Gargano at NXT WarGames tonight. Stay tuned for updates.
