In spite of reports that Finn Balor is being medically cleared for an in ring return very soon, and he’s been putting the final touches on his rehab lately by even rehearsing his famous “Demon entrance” it looks like fans won’t be seeing Balor back on television before WrestleMania.
Finn Balor is being advertised for house shows in March, but the latest word making the rounds is that WWE officials won’t be putting him back in a televised story until after WrestleMania 33. Of course, these are rumors but WWE doesn’t like to take too many chances with big names coming off of long injuries now that there are so many eyes on them in regards to corporate presence and public scrutiny.
One thing that excites us regardless is the fact that there is now a ticking clock for Balor’s eventual return.
When Cody Rhodes took off his Stardust makeup and bet on himself in the independent circuit, it was a total mystery as to how well he would do. Everyone knew that the Grandson of a Plumber would make it, but people were undoubtedly surprised as to just how big of an impact Cody has made.
A fan recently asked Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter how good of a living independent wrestlers typically make compared to WWE employees and Meltzer shared a pretty amazing revelation. Meltzer said that top indie workers usually make “great livings” at around “mid six figures.”
When one fan said in response: “Breaking it down, probably paid more per appearance than some WWE guys as per they don’t travel as much.” Meltzer didn’t let that sit too long before he had this to say in reply:

Whether that response was a tad confusing or not, what we’re not confused about is the fact the The American Nightmare (bet Vince wishes he would have thought of that one) is making a great living on the independent circuit. He’s working the matches that he wants to wrestle, and he has his say in what happens when he shows up.
We can’t wait to see what’s in store for Cody, and if he’s pocketing way more money while working the “territories of the planet” than he was in WWE, he totally deserves it.
How American Nightmare is not considered an insult to Dusty is beyond me.
Why is it an insult?
To Cody, everything to do with his dad that doesn’t involve him is an insult. Yet. He goes and takes his dad’s moniker American Dream and turns it into a nightmare. It doesn’t bug me. It’s pretty cool. But. If the wWe did this with Goldust, you’d hear something from the Cody camp.
