A few weeks ago Sasha Banks and Naomi became the talk of the wrestling world after the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions left their belts on the desk of John Laurinaitis and then walked out.
WWE later announced that both Sasha Banks and Naomi have been suspended indefinitely. It was confirmed that a tournament will be held to crown new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, but plans for the tournament have yet to be announced.
As the situation was unfolding WWE had the commentary team explain it on the air, and during a recent episode of the After The Bell podcast Corey Graves explained that Vince McMahon was joking about it backstage.
“There was a few weeks back, and you’ll know what I’m alluding to, when things changed in a very drastic manner on Monday Night RAW,” Graves said. “And I walked back through the curtain and I walked up to our fearless leader, and he had a grin on his face. ‘Hey, it’s live TV, nothing can go wrong, right?’ And he just laughed and shook my hand and went about his business.”
Since the walkout it’s been reported that there’s been little communication between the two sides. It’s believed that Sasha Banks and Naomi both have contracts that are set to expire in the coming months, but it’s not clear if WWE will be freezing their contracts due to them walking out. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
