SummerSlam has come and gone, and before we know it wrestling fans all around the world will be gearing up for WrestleMania season. It’s never too early to start talking about WrestleMania, and it’s been rumored for months that Vince McMahon has already decided that Brock Lesnar will be facing Roman Reigns at the big event. Now it looks like another big match has already been discussed.

Sportskeeda is reporting that Vince McMahon nixed plans for a major Triple H angle that would have kicked off at Hell in a Cell. This past week on SmackDown Live, Vince McMahon made Shane vs. Kevin Owens official for Hell in a Cell, and KO attacked Vince and busted him open, but according to the report original plans called for Vince to make a deal with Owens.

Vince was very confrontational with Kevin Owens on Tuesday night, but the original plan called for him to negotiate and offer to put Shane’s WWE shares on the line at Hell in a Cell. Triple H would have then helped KO defeat Shane, and KO would have given his WWE shares to Triple H, leaving Shane with no stake in the company. Shane would then return a few months later to kick off a WrestleMania program with Triple H.

Shane McMahon and Kevin Owens will be facing off at Hell in a Cell, and it’s unknown if plans for a potential Shane vs. Triple H match at WrestleMania have been entirely scrapped, or if WWE is just changing course.

The report also notes that the relationship between Triple H and Shane has vastly improved over the past year, and they were completely fine with working together when the storyline was pitched.
