Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn had a very interesting Fastlane. During the main event match, both guys should have theoretically won the WWE Championship but Shane McMahon took advantage of an absent Daniel Bryan and cost both members of the Yep Movement the title. Needless to say, Kevin Owens wasn’t happy at all.
But as it turns out this could very well be building toward something bigger for KO and SZ and of course, it might as well lead to WrestleMania.
Bryan Alvarez was asked on Wrestling Observer Live about a match at WrestleMania featuring Kevin and Sami vs Shane McMahon and The Chairman Of The Board Mr. McMahon. As outrageous as it might sound, apparently it’s not out of the realm of possibility.
“Well, I’ve heard people rumor that but like he’s old he’s not supposed to be taking bumps. I know he took that headbutt from Kevin Owens. I mean, I just think it would be a terrible idea. Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens against Vince and Shane? I mean it sounds good if it’s 20 years ago, but it ain’t 20 years ago.”
Still, that seed might already be planted backstage and if Bryan Alvarez heard a rumor about it then that could mean the wheels are in motion.
When it comes to a storyline, it would make sense. Vince might want some retribution after being demolished by KO and left a bloody pile before Hell In A Cell. But the question still needs to be begged which is: why?
Why would Vince McMahon do this? He is a billionaire and his body has already taken a ton of damage in his life. I can understand how Vince might see WrestleMania as his baby so he’s putting his body on the line for what he believes in. He’s also said in the past that he would never ask someone to do something he wasn’t willing to do. But I also have to wonder how many 72-year-old men Vince would ask to have a match against Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.
If it happens, at least Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn will have better spots on the WrestleMania card than just two bodies in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal. But still, a match featuring Vince McMahon at his age might add a tinge of danger to the match which borders on the straight-up fear that something could happen to a guy who should have retired 7 years ago if he had a job as an accountant.
