Throughout the years there have been many WWE Superstars who have had their ups and downs with the company and Matt Cardona (formerly known as Zack Ryder) had an interesting run with WWE.

In 2015 Matt Cardona started working in NXT while also making appearances on shows like Main Event and Superstars. During an episode of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Cardona talked about that era of his career and how an appearance on Superstars led to Vince McMahon questioning why he wasn’t being used more.

“Vince was sitting in his office eating his steak and he looked up and I was on [Superstars] and he went, ‘How come we’re not doing something with this guy?'”

Cardona also talked about his big Intercontinental Championship win at WrestleMania 32 and how he ended up in the ladder match. According to Cardona, after PAC was removed from the match due to injury he approached Road Dogg about taking his place int he match which eventually led to his victory.

“I don’t remember what I said, but he told me I said I had never heard my music play at WrestleMania and that stuck with him. Just being in that match was a win for me. Just to have a WrestleMania entrance and to see my name in a WrestleMania program… it was cool. Then days before [the show], they told me I was gonna win.”
