They say that anything can happen when you watch a WWE event and over the weekend Money in the Bank aired live from the O2 Arena in London, England. Gunther successfully defended his Intercontinental Championship against Matt Riddle at the event, but it was what happened after that really got people talking.
Gunther briefly celebrated with his Intercontinental Championship belt as his celebration was cut short when Drew McIntyre made his surprise return. Drew greeted Gunther with a Glasgow Kiss followed by a Claymore then made it clear that he wants the Intercontinental Championship when he held up the belt.
There’s been a lot of talk about Drew McIntyre’s status with WWE as he’s been out of action since WrestleMania 39 and his contract with the company is reportedly up in early 2024.
PWInsider is reporting that Drew McIntyre’s return to TV does not mean that he’s signed a new deal with WWE. It was reported a few weeks ago that the two sides are far apart on money, and it’s being said that nothing has changed regarding the new deal as they are no closer to agreeing to terms.
One way or another it’s sure to be an exciting week for Drew as it will be interesting to see how he handles the whole Gunther situation if Drew ends up making his return to Raw tonight. Stay tuned for updates.
