Cody Rhodes has been the talk of the wrestling world ever since he confirmed his AEW departure, and it’s been rumored that Cody could be returning to WWE.
Fightful Select reports that things have been eerily quiet over the past week regarding the Cody Rhodes situation. It’s being reported that those in WWE are careful to say “if Cody Rhodes comes in” and “if Cody Rhodes” pops up, and Fightful hasn’t heard anything about creative plans for Cody just yet.
That doesn’t mean that there aren’t any creative plans for Cody Rhodes, but he is not on the script for tonight’s episode of SmackDown. The belief among wrestlers in WWE is that Cody is coming in, but they have not been given any official indication that it’s happening.
It’s said to be “business as usual” in AEW and the Cody situation was not discussed as much over the last week. One source indicated that they believe Cody Rhodes and Tony Khan are still on good terms. It’s not expected that either side will be making negative comments about the other, and the particulars regarding the departure are being kept quiet.
When Fightful reached out to Cody Rhodes the only comment they received regarding Cody’s status said that he’s a “stay at home dad now.” Sources close to Cody insist that he was not in Orlando to visit the WWE Performance Center, but instead for a friend’s birthday party. However, that has not been confirmed.
