Mercedes Mone has been a hot topic in the world of professional wrestling ever since she parted ways with WWE last year, and she returned to wrestling back in January when she debuted with NJPW at Wrestle Kingdom. Mercedes confronted Kairi who was the IWGP Women’s Champion at the time, and she went on to beat Kairi to win the IWGP Women’s Championship at Battle in the Valley last month.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter recently shared an update on Mercedes Mone’s contract with Bushiroad, and it was noted that she doesn’t have any dates left on her deal beyond 4/23.
“As of right now, Mercedes Mone has no dates left with Bushiroad after the 4/23 Yokohama Arena show. Unless that changes, logic would say she would drop the IWGP title to Mayu Iwatani at that show. If Mone wins, it would mean she’s reached an agreement for a longer deal.”
It’s not clear at this point in time if Mercedes Mone could agree to a new deal with Bushiroad, but she recently indicated during an interview that she’s willing to work with whoever is looking to pay her the most money.
“I’m as free as a bird. I’ve got the choice to decide anything that I want to do. Especially tomorrow when I win the IWGP Women’s Championship, I plan to take that title all over the world, not just New Japan. It’s about to be a global championship. So wherever that championship ends up, whether it be on United States TV, Japan TV, Mexico TV, Germany TV, anywhere all over the world is wherever I choose to make it happen. So whoever has the best bag, whoever writes the best cheque for Mercedes Mone, that’s where I might end up.”
