Update On Big Changes Coming For WWE Pay-Per-Views

When WWE first brought the draft back in 2016, it was pretty exciting for the fans, and the brand split has worked out pretty well so far. SmackDown Live has given stars such as AJ Styles, Kevin Owens, Jinder Mahal and others the opportunity to work in the main event, and Raw has been carrying on with business as usual.

Now that the brands have two separate rosters, they also have their own brand exclusive pay-per-views. However, it looks like brand exclusive pay-per-views could be coming to an end sooner than later.

An e-mail was recently sent to fans who bought tickets for WWE’s Backlash pay-per-view in May, and the e-mail mentioned that the show will be a dual-branded event.

Dave Meltzer recently noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that he’s been told an official announcement regarding the end of brand exclusive pay-per-views is forthcoming. When asked for comment WWE responded by saying there is nothing official to announce at this time.

When news of the change first broke it was reported that WWE officials are looking to make the change due to avoid repetitive matches and “so-so ticket sales.”

As of right now there are five co-branded pay-per-views on the schedule with WrestleMania, Money In The Bank, SummerSlam, Survivor Series and the Royal Rumble. Stay tuned for updates.
