Now that all of the pay-per-views on the 2017 schedule have aired on the WWE Network, everyone’s looking ahead to the Royal Rumble. Each and every year the Royal Rumble is one of the most anticipated WWE events, and the hype train for the 2018 Royal Rumble officially left the station on Monday.
During Raw it was announced that Elias will be entering the Royal Rumble match, and Stephanie McMahon also officially confirmed that the pay-per-view will feature the first ever women’s Royal Rumble.
When it comes to the Royal Rumble match, you never know who’s going to show up. Over the years many surprise entrants including wrestlers, celebrities, athletes and more have competed in the match, and a UFC star wants in on the action.
UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier recently spoke to Sports Illustrated, and he said that he doesn’t think WWE will invite him, but he wants to compete in the Rumble match.
“I wish I could be in the Royal Rumble this year,” said Cormier. “I don’t think they will invite me, but fighting against Oezdemir in Boston works for me, timewise. My fight is in January, which opens up WrestleMania for me this New Orleans–not to compete, but to go.”
WWE officials certainly don’t seem to be opposed to the idea of bringing UFC stars into the company, as they’ve been courting Ronda Rousey for years, and Triple H has openly said that the company is interested in working with Conor McGregor.
