Business has certainly picked up for the world of pro wrestling over the last few weeks thanks to the emergence of AEW, and there’s no telling what the wrestling landscape could look like in the future. It’s possible that any number of WWE Superstars could be looking to make moves over the next few years, and it sounds like two members of the roster are looking to move on to the next phase of their careers.
Pro Wrestling Sheet is reporting that Mike and Maria Kanellis have asked to be released from their contracts. According to the report, they’ve been unhappy with how the company has used them and they requested their release weeks ago.
It’s also worth noting that Mike has been selling shirts on his Mike Bennett page on Pro Wrestling Tees.
Of course it’s always possible that WWE may not grant their release. As we’ve seen in the past, WWE can choose to keep a talent under contract in the same way that they did with Neville before he was eventually released.
If Mike and Maria are released, they certainly won’t have a shortage of options in regards to companies they could work for between AEW, NJPW, ROH and Impact Wrestling.
Do you think now is the right time for Mike and Maria to leave WWE? Sound off in the comments below.
