triple h

Following Vince McMahon’s retirement last year Triple H took over WWE creative and since then he’s been making changes. One thing Triple H did was get rid of the 24/7 Championship when Nikki Cross threw the belt in the trash after defeating Dana Brooke back in November of 2022.

It looks like Triple H also considered retiring another title as Fight Fans is reporting that a source told them Triple H is not a fan of the belt. It was noted the exact wording Fight Fans received regarding Triple H’s thoughts on the title said, “HHH suggested retiring the [Universal] Championship at one time; he really doesn’t like the title.”

It’s not known at this point in time if Triple H will be getting rid of the belt in the future, but it’s being reported that he does want the titles to be split following WrestleMania 39 with the double title situation expected to be figured out by SummerSlam.

Triple H reportedly wanted to retire the Universal Championship when he took over creative, but that didn’t happen as he, “recognised its importance for the dual champion role.”

There’s currently no word on if he could bring back the WWE World Heavyweight Championship to replace the Universal Title. One way or another it will be interesting to see what happens with the title picture after Roman Reigns defends the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 39 next month. Stay tuned for updates.
