It’s certainly not uncommon for WWE Superstars to have their names changed, but fans were shocked last year when Pete Dunne was called up to the main roster under the name Butch. The change left a lot of people scratching their heads while Pete Dunne has tried to make the most of it.
WrestleVotes recently spoke to GiveMeSport about Pete Dunne’s status, and it was noted that Triple H plans to change Butch’s name back to Pete Dunne once he finished up with The Brawling Brutes, which will likely happen by the end of this year.
“Absolutely, I was told that it’s in the works. When Hunter came back, I was told that Pete Dunne was due to become Pete Dunne, but somebody said, to wait because The Brawling Brutes were catching on. When Pete Dunne returns, it won’t be as a member of the Brawling Brutes. I’m sure he’ll be back by the end of this year.”
Pete Dunne made a name for himself with his performances in NXT and during his stint with the brand he managed to capture the NXT UK Championship and the NXT Tag Team Championship. Despite the name change it seems that his run with The Brawling Brutes has gone over well, so it will be interesting to see how things play out when the group goes their separate ways.
