It’s no big secret that tonight is going to be a night to remember for the wrestling world as NXT and AEW will be going head to head. The two brands went head to head for years on Wednesday nights with AEW coming out ahead in viewership most weeks, but it’s been a while since Dynamite and NXT have aired at the same time, and it sounds like WWE is looking to put on the biggest show possible tonight.

Haus of Wrestling is reporting that tonight’s episode of NXT will be “a very clear example of how and why WWE is WWE, and why AEW has a long way to go.” The source also noted that they felt AEW was lulled into a false sense of reality that they were somehow an industry leader when they continued to beat WWE’s number three brand in the ratings.

It’s also believed that there are lingering tensions from the Wednesday Night War with the idea being that Tony Khan could have put AEW Dynamite on Wednesdays and avoided going head to head with NXT in the first place. It was said that Tony Khan “poked the bear at the wrong time” as Triple H is firmly in control of WWE creative and Shawn Michaels takes pride in being the best.

The plan for creative tonight on NXT is to use great storytelling and main roster stars to shine up some of the younger talents on the brand. Stay tuned for updates.
