The Royal Rumble premium live event kicked off in a big way with the women’s Royal Rumble match. The action continued with the second match of the night when DIY retained the WWE Tag Team Championship against The Motor City Machine Guns in a two out of three falls match.
Cody Rhodes also put his Undisputed WWE Championship on the line on Saturday night as he defended the belt against Kevin Owens in a brutal ladder match.
It seems that the ladder match took a lot out of The American Nightmare as Jackie Redmond announced during the Royal Rumble post-show that Rhodes is dealing with multiple injuries. Redmond also confirmed that Cody will be appearing on SmackDown on Friday.
“Cody Rhodes is dealing with multiple injuries. I can’t confirm the intensity or severity of those injuries, but what I will tell you is that they are bad enough that Cody will not be addressing the media in tonight’s press conference. In fact, his in-ring status might even be up in the air as well. What I can confirm is that Cody Rhodes will still attend Friday Night SmackDown in Memphis.”
Stay tuned for more updates on Cody’s status as they become available.
