Unfortunately it’s been a week full of WWE releases and it looks like another name has just been added to the list. PWInsider is reporting that multiple sources have confirmed WWE has released Matt Riddle. The former WWE United States Champion was reportedly informed of his release around 5 PM on Friday.

Matt Riddle had been off TV recently due to what talents were told was a medical issue. Riddle first signed with WWE in 2018 and he debuted with the NXT brand that same year. He went on to win the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic and NXT Tag Team Championship with Pete Dunne.

In 2020 Matt Riddle was drafted to the main roster where he later found success in a tag team with Randy Orton. Together as RK-Bro, Randy Orton and Matt Riddle managed to capture the Raw Tag Team Titles. They would eventually drop the belts to The Usos in a unification match on SmackDown in May of 2022 which ended up being Randy Orton’s last match so far. WWE still has yet to announce any details regarding a possible return for Orton, and recently it was teased that Riddle could be forming a tag team with Drew McIntyre, but that storyline is obviously finished following Riddle’s release.
