John Cena kicked off his WWE farewell tour in January of 2025, and throughout the year he ended facing off against some of his biggest rivals such as CM Punk and Randy Orton.
There were many fans who wanted to see Adam Copeland return to WWE as Edge to face John Cena, and there were a lot of questions regarding whether or not the match could happen due to the fact that Copeland is currently signed to All Elite Wrestling.
Recently Metro asked Tony Khan about his stance on the match, and he noted that he and Adam were never asked about it. He also noted that had he been asked and presented with a plan he would’ve supported the idea.
“I was never asked, and as far as I know, Adam was never asked, so it’s hard to say. But when there have been opportunities to collaborate, I have been collaborative in the past. I never got asked, but if I had been presented a plan and the dates and the information of what was going on, yeah, I would have supported it.”
Ultimately we didn’t get one last John Cena vs. Edge match, but Cena did pay tribute to Edge during his farewell tour when he used the spear.
