sting

For decades The Undertaker was one of the most prominent figures in WWE, but The Deadman decided to hang up the boots for good following his match with AJ Styles at WrestleMania 36. Taker has remained retired although it seems that the thought of an in-ring return still crosses his mind from time to time.

During a recent Q&A session on Patreon, The Undertaker admitted that he’s still trying to come to grips with retirement. He also joked that he maybe might have returned to the ring for a match with Sting if Sting hadn’t retired.

“It’s still tough for me. I’m still coming to grips with it. I may or may not have said to my wife recently that I was going to make a comeback. Fortunately, I think I’ve talked myself out of that. No, there’s not one more match. I just got back from Australia. I was tired and I knew I had a lot of stuff coming up and that was me just feeling comfortable saying it.

“That’s the only thing I do know. Don’t expect it. There’s not going to be one more match. Don’t even start. Well, I mean, if Sting hadn’t retired, maybe. He ruined the whole thing. I got new knees and he went and had to go and retire… Oh my gosh, we’re going to get so much heat for that.”

For years Sting vs. The Undertaker was a dream match for fans. Many people hoped it would finally happen when Sting joined WWE, but unfortunately it just never came to fruition.
