The Undertaker is without a doubt one of the most recognizable names in the history of professional wrestling, and he spent decades working closely with Vince McMahon. Over the years Vince and The Undertaker formed a special relationship, but at one point Vince crossed a line with The Deadman.
During a recent episode of Six Feet Under, The Undertaker explained that he confided in Vince McMahon during a tough time in his life, and he didn’t like the response he received.
“This is at the end of my career when I was only working 2 to 3 times a year. I showed up, I don’t know if it was Raw or SmackDown was here, my hometown. I went up there to see him. Been going through a bunch of stuff personally, having a time outside of the business, it was a rough time in my life, a lot of things going on.
I went into his office to say hello, see how he was doing. Anyway, we get to talking and I kinda start going off and telling him all this stuff. He looks at me, it was as straight a face as it could be, he goes, ‘You know what Mark – I really think you need to quit feeling sorry for yourself. I was like, ‘What?’ He said, ‘Yeah. You’re feeling sorry for yourself. Man up.’
There was a sense of rage that came over me at that moment. I was like, ‘Man, I thought me and you are friends. I’m talking to you as a friend. I’m not talking to you as my boss, and I’m just letting you know what’s going on in my life.’
Again – he was right, and it dawned on me later. But I did tell him, ‘If you were anybody else, anybody else, we would probably be fighting right now. No one talks to me like that. You don’t talk to me like that.’ He said, ‘Well damn it, somebody needs to.’ Like, ‘Man, you are really pushing it.’ Eventually I was like, ‘I just came in to say hello.’ I get up and walk out.
It dawns on me after I calm down like, ‘You know what, get your s**t together. Handle your business.’ Then we laughed about it a few weeks down the road, and I finally called him.”
