It’s been a rough week for the professional wrestling world as people are mourning the loss of Benjamin Satterly, known to wrestling fans as PAC, as he recently passed away.
The Rock recently posted a video in which he honored PAC, and he also mentioned AEW when he said, “As global as professional wrestling is, as global as WWE is, as much as AEW is growing into this phenomenal wrestling company, and wherever you’re wrestling at around the world, we’re still a very tight knit unit and a tight knit group because we all share the same DNA. But when we lose one of our own, it hurts. And when they’re young and so insanely talented, it really f*****g hurts.”
During a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer claimed that there were people in WWE who were surprised by the wording that The Rock used in the video.
“Rock and Nick Khan are close. I do not believe that has changed. Were there people in WWE who were very surprised at his wording and what he said, especially with him being on the TKO board of directors? Yes, okay. They were very surprised. Nick may not have been. He may have told Nick ahead of time. Maybe he didn’t. He can do whatever he wants.”
“Not that he did the video, but the wording in the video, where he praised them and essentially gave the stamp of, ‘Yeah, you guys are good for business and work hard, and you’re helping make wrestling.’
“That’s not the message I think the company wants out. No one’s going to be mad at him doing the video, but the wording, people brought it up to me.”
The Rock responded to a post about Meltzer’s report from Clutch Wrestling on Instagram, and he replied with a comment which said, “you’re right brother, and humanity matters to me. I was born into this business and I’ve seen it all, but when one of our own passes away, I don’t care nor do I see “our competition”, I care about the wrestlers and how it affects them. I’ve been there. To me, humanity matters most.”
