Sting has had an incredible career within the squared circle but it looks like he’ll be officially hanging up the boots soon. TMZ is reporting that Sting is retiring from in ring competition due to the neck injury he suffered last year at Night of Champions.

Sources told TMZ that Sting was evaluated by several doctors who told him it’s too much of a risk for him to step back in the ring. He was officially diagnosed with cervical spinal stenosis which is a condition that can cause pain and discomfort by affecting the nerves. It was noted that this is the same condition that forced Edge to retire in 2011.

Sting will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in a few weeks and TMZ’s sources say he may be making the announcement during the ceremony. It was also mentioned that Sting is open to taking a non-physical role with WWE but that nothing has been offered yet.
