You can never say never in the professional wrestling business and Steve Austin proved that at WrestleMania 38 when he returned to the ring to defeat Kevin Owens in the main event of night 1.
Steve Austin recently spoke to ESPN about a potential in-ring return and he noted that he’s not ruling it out. When asked if he had an opponent in mind Austin refrained from naming names, but said that CM Punk “would be a good one.”
“I like Punk, and I think Punk likes me — so, as long as he can take a (Stone Cold) Stunner (laughs). I consider him a great friend, a great guy and a great wrestler who’s had a great career. We’ll see.”
The Texas Rattlesnake also remained noncommittal when it comes to an in-ring return playing up that it may, or may not happen at some point in the future.
“I love the sports entertainment business more than anything I’ve ever done in my life. And you get a dose of it, and you want more. And so here I am talking to you a couple years later about doing it again. And that’s how addicting it is to me, just to talk about it. And I get excited, and I’ll start talking too fast. But it’s not gonna happen. But it could.”
