It’s been a while since fans have seen John Cena make an appearance on WWE programming, but Cena has been a very hot topic over the last few months as his return has been rumored for some time now.

The Money in the Bank pay-per-view is set to air live on Sunday, and then all eyes will be looking ahead to the SummerSlam pay-per-view which will take place from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas next month.

It’s been reported that plans are locked in for John Cena to face Roman Reigns at WWE’s biggest party of the summer, and it sounds like the 16 time WWE World Champion will be making his return to WWE programming sooner than later.

Fightful Select reports that the working plan is for John Cena to make his return during the July 23 episode of Friday Night SmackDown. It was noted that Cena could possibly return sooner than that, but the working plan is for him to return on the July 23 episode of SmackDown.

Cena last competed at WrestleMania 36 where he was defeated by Bray Wyatt in a Firefly Funhouse match. Stay tuned for more updates on his return as they become available.
