This week’s episode of WWE SmackDown live takes place from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT, and the show kicked off with AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan backstage. The SmackDown Live General Manager told AJ that if it was up to him, AJ would still be fired. He followed up by telling him he has no idea what he’s in for in regards to his match with Shane at WrestleMania.

Styles says he’s heading to the ring to tell the world how good it feels to beat up Shane McMahon.

Tom Phillips, JBL and David Otunga are at the commentary table. Mauro Ranallo is mysteriously absent for the second week in a row. According to Tom Phillips, Mauro Ranallo is sick. AJ Styles’ music hits and he makes his way to the ring.

AJ enters the ring to a mixed reaction. He says he’s had 7 days to think about what he’s done, and he’s not sorry for anything he did last week. In case you missed it, he put Shane McMahon’s head through a car window.

Styles says that Shane McMahon is crazy for challenging him to a match at WrestleMania 33, but he accepts his challenge because he wants to be part of the Ultimate Thrill Ride. He then pointed at the WrestleMania sign, because why not?

AJ Styles is untouchable according to AJ Styles. The former WWE Champion plans to meet Shane McMahon in the parking lot once again. He says this week’s beating will be even worse than what he did to Shane McMahon last Tuesday.

Back from the commercial, Shane McMahon told Daniel Bryan on the phone he has a plan for AJ Styles. Bryan seemed to be excited about the plan.

Baron Corbin barged in and asked about his WrestleMania match with Dean Ambrose, but Bryan told him he can’t get in touch with Dean Ambrose because of the beating Corbin delivered to him on SmackDown a few weeks ago.

Corbin thought he was getting the night off, but Bryan booked him in a match with Randy Orton.

Backstage Segment

Back from the commercial break we got a backstage promo featuring Luke Harper talking about how Pandora’s Box has been opened. He said that next week he’s going to destroy Bray Wyatt.

Unreleased Episode Of Total Bellas

We got a nice little video package of an “unreleased” episode of the hit show “Total Bellas.” Maryse played both Nikki and Brie Bella while The Miz dressed up in full John Cena gear.

Miz, dressed as John Cena, told Brie that she has violated his contract by singing and she’s on probation. Nikki asked if John had anything he wanted to say to her, and he told her she was in violation of the house rules for having her feet on the table before he pet her like a dog.

He said he was going to “pop” the question before popping a balloon with a question mark. Maryse, dressed as Nikki, then pretended to cry.

Baron Corbin vs. Randy Orton

Baron Corbin made his way to the ring for a match with the 12 time WWE World Champion Randy Orton. Randy tried to go for a RKO at the beginning of the contest, but Corbin wisely exited the ring.

Corbin eventually got back in the ring and backed Orton into the corner then hit him with a few strikes to the head before throwing him into the ropes. Orton knocked him down and did that thing where he stomps on his opponent’s limbs.

Corbin made his way to the outside, and Orton tried to grab him from within the ring, but Baron smashed his face into the ring post.

Back from the commercial, Corbin still had the upper hand on Randy Orton. Randy threw Corbin into the ropes with an Irish whip, but Corbin slid to the outside, then he made his way back in and hit Orton with a clothesline. Corbin continued to dominate as the crowd chanted “RKO!”

Orton got the momentum back on his side after he put Baron Corbin down with a powerslam followed by a Full Nelson Slam.

They took the fight to the outside then Orton put Corbin into position for his falling DDT back inside the ring. Randy called for the RKO and the crowd went wild. Corbin was slow to get up and he blocked the RKO then reversed it into the Deep Six, but Orton kicked out.

Dean Ambrose showed up out of nowhere on a forklift and asked Baron Corbin if he was busy. While Corbin was distracted Orton capitalized and put him away with the RKO.

Ambrose came to the ring and hit Dirty Deeds on Corbin then accepted Corbin’s challenge for an Intercontinental Title match at WrestleMania 33.

Randy Orton Gets Ambushed

Back from the commercial break, Randy Orton was doing an interview backstage where he said he isn’t sure what to expect from Bray Wyatt. The lights went out and when they came back on a bunch of people in sheep masks attacked Orton and held him down while Bray got all creepy on him.

Bray tells Orton he exposed his one flaw and his one flaw is Sister Abigail, but she’s one with him now, and his only flaw can become his greatest strength. He says that by purging his fatal flaw he’s become stronger than he ever could have imagined. He thanked Randy Orton and then he sang to him.

John Cena vs. Fandango w/ Tyler Breeze

That’s right folks, 16 time WWE World Champion John Cena faced Fandango on SmackDown Live this week.

Fandango made his way to the ring with Tyler Breeze by his side. Breeze was dressed as Nikki Bella complete with an enhanced chest and all. Fandango told Breeze to give John Cena a ticket for wearing jorts in 2017, because they are still rocking that Fashion Police gimmick.

Tyler Breeze flexed while dressed up as Nikki Bella and Fandango lovingly referred to him as Breezy Bella. Cena called Nikki Bella out to the ring, and the real deal looked much better than the imposter.

John Cena hit the Five Knuckle Shuffle on Fandango, then Breezy Bella got in the ring and Nikki knocked him down.

John Cena and Nikki then hit their finishers on Fandango and Breezy Bella respectively, they both applied the STF and Fandango and Breezy tapped out. John Cena wins!

Becky Lynch vs. Carmella

Natalya made her way to ringside to hang out at the commentary table, and for some reason she felt it necessary to tell us she had food poisoning last week.

Becky Lynch made her way to the ring to a positive ovation from the crowd, then Carmella made her way out with future WrestleMania headliner James Ellsworth.

Becky Lynch took the fight to Carmella early on and Carmella retreated to the outside.

Becky Lynch chased her, but James Ellsworth grabbed Becky’s leg and prevented her from getting in the ring. Natalya got involved and then the referee called for the bell.

Mickie James and Alexa Bliss both rushed the ring while Becky Lynch hit James Ellsworth with a dropkick from the top. Mickie James then took out Becky and Alexa Bliss took out Mickie then held her title up high to end the segment.

Another Unreleased Episode Of Total Bellas

Back at John Cena’s house, The Miz and Maryse, dressed up as John Cena and Nikki Bella respectively. They continued to mock the power couple.

Cena told Nikki he got her a diamond, then pulled out a DDP Yoga package. He later told her he got her a ring, then pulled out a toy WWE ring. Cena scolded Nikki then made her cry. He got down on one knee and told her they should tie the knot. He followed up by using the “bunny ear” method to tie his shoes. Fake Nikki continued to cry.

AJ Styles Backstage

Backstage Renee Young asked AJ Styles what his intentions are for Shane McMahon as a car pulled up. Styles got ready to attack, but inaugural SmackDown Live Tag Team Champions Heath Slater and Rhyno got out of the vehicle so he backed down.

Back in the arena, Shane McMahon made his way to the ring.

Shane McMahon showed up in the ring sporting a nice black eye. He said he knows AJ Styles is looking for him, but now he’s looking for AJ. Renee Young informed AJ that Shane McMahon is in the arena then the show cut to commercial.

Shane McMahon Calls Out AJ Styles

Back in the ring, Shane McMahon tells AJ Styles that he should have called him out man to man instead of ambushing him. Shane tells him that whatever the issue is between the two of them, it just got worse. The crowd chanted for AJ Styles as Shane McMahon waited for him to enter the arena.

Shane McMahon stood in the ring as cameras showed AJ walking through hallways backstage. The crowd then chanted for Shane-O-Mac as he waited. AJ Styles grabbed a microphone before walking through the curtain.

AJ Styles told Shane McMahon that he needs to count to 10 and calm down. Styles says he got heated over losing the main event of WrestleMania, and he’s sorry. The crowd booed and Styles told Shane not to listen to them.

AJ told Shane that he did him a favor, because he wanted a match at WrestleMania and he gave it to him. Styles told Shane he wanted to look him in the eyes and give him a sincere apology followed by a handshake.

AJ entered the ring, and Shane McMahon immediately hit Styles with a barrage of fists before throwing him out of the ring. AJ followed up by hitting Shane with a suplex into the barricade. The crowd chanted for AJ Styles as he cleared off the announce table. Styles picked Shane up, but Shane retaliated by hitting a move that looked like a Shane McMahon style belly-to-back suplex. Shane hit AJ with the monitor from the announce booth before placing him on the table.

Shane positioned AJ on the table and the crowd went wild as Shane made his way to the top turnbuckle. Shane then jumped off the top rope and hit AJ Styles with an elbow drop through the announce table.

If this is what Shane McMahon busts out on SmackDown Live to hype the match, just imagine what he’s going to do at WrestleMania 33. Spoiler alert: he’s going to jump off something high, it’s what he does.

Shane McMahon stood up and pointed at the WrestleMania sign to end the show.
