Unfortunately for Cody Rhodes he suffered an injury prior to Hell in a Cell on Sunday night, but he still showed up to compete in the main event with a torn pectoral tendon, and he was able to defeat Seth Rollins.

Cody Rhodes kicked off Monday Night Raw this week, and he received a loud ovation from the fans in attendance. The American Nightmare welcomed the fans to Raw to which they responded by chanting “thank you Cody!”

The former TNT Champion said that he doesn’t want to be sad or downtrodden because of his injury. He said that last night could have been the worst night of his life, but he stood and fought. Rhodes called Seth Rollins one of the best Superstars in the history of the game then clarified that he is officially done with Rollins.

Cody said he wants to talk about what’s above him, and he looked up at two Money in the Bank briefcases about the ring. Rhodes noted that he’s beaten up right now, but teased that he could climb the ladder, grab the briefcase, then become WWE Undisputed Universal Champion. He was then interrupted by Seth Rollins.

Seth told Cody he still doesn’t like him, but he’s earned his respect due to what he put himself through at Hell in a Cell. Rollins told Cody he’s the toughest person he’s ever been in the ring with. The Visionary followed up by saying, “Dusty is very proud of his baby boy right now.”

Rollins and Cody then shook hands as the fans cheered and Seth then left the ring. Cody started to make his exit as the commentators talked about how he’s still focused on Money in the Bank even though he’s set to undergo surgery. Seth Rollins then appeared out of nowhere with a sledgehammer and hit Cody in the back.

Seth Rollins continued to attack Cody as WWE officials came out to break it up. Back from the commercial break Cody got back up to his feet as the fans chanted for him. He limped his way to a stretcher then refused medical attention and walked out on his own as the fans continued to clap for him.
