Samoa Joe Issues Statement Following His WWE Release

The WWE releases continued this week and this time around the focus was on the NXT brand. Many key figures who were a part of the brand have been let go, and former NXT Champion Samoa Joe happened to be one of the names who got released.

Following his release from WWE the Samoan Submission Machine posted the following on Twitter:

“Extremely fortunate and grateful to all the young & amazing talent I had the pleasure of working with in the past months. Only saddened at the loss of an “excuse” to see their continued growth & achievement . I am very excited for there future,….. and mine 🙃”

Samoa Joe was originally released from WWE following WrestleMania 37, but Triple H brought him back to NXT a few months later. Eventually Joe would win the NXT Championship which he unfortunately had to relinquish shortly after due to injury. He then took on a backstage role.

It’s been reported that the releases were meant to directly remove Triple H hires from the NXT brand, and you can get more on that here.
