Rusev hasn’t been seen on WWE TV since he was defeated by John Cena back at Battleground in a flag match. Cena now steps in the ring tonight against Shinsuke Nakamura to determine who the number one contender for the WWE Championship will be heading into SummerSlam.

The rumour mill right now is suggesting that the match could be a triple threat between Cena, Nakamura and current champion Jinder Mahal, but recent comments from Rusev in John Cena’s direction seem to state that the rivalry between them may not be over.
John Cena was recently unveiled as the lead in a new Transformers spin off called ‘Bumblebee’ and when Cena announced this news on Twitter, Rusev had an amusing response.
One of the most exciting projects I've been fortunate to be a part of. Thrilled to join the #Transformers franchise! https://t.co/hdMUxuMcyA

If Rusev was to involve himself in the match tonight then it could set up a match between Cena and Rusev at SummerSlam in less than three weeks time. This would then allow Nakamura to be given his first shot at the WWE Championship where he could come out on top only to be stopped in his tracks by his current rival Mr. Money in the Bank Baron Corbin.
It will be interesting to see if Rusev does make his presence known in Cena’s match because it seems that WWE has nothing for him outside of his feud with the 16-time World Champion.
