This week’s episode of WWE SmackDown Live kicked off with a backstage meeting, and during the meeting Shane McMahon referred to Paige as the former SmackDown GM, and he announced that she will be taking on a new role with the company going forward.
Now that the McMahons have taken control of Raw and SmackDown Live, Paige has been relieved of her duties, and it was recently reported that Paige’s removal was a creative decision because WWE has decided to do away with the General Manager role.
However, it looks like there could be more to how things unfolded on Tuesday night.
CageSideSeats notes it’s rumored that one of the reasons why Paige was taken out of the General Manager role on SmackDown Live is because she will have to focus on promoting “Fighting With My Family” soon.
The film which tells the story of Paige’s family and her journey through the world of professional wrestling is set to hit theaters in February.
What her new role with WWE will be remains to be seen, but it’s been speculated that she could end up working as an analyst on WWE kickoff show panels.
