Rumor On WWE Asking New Day To Take 75 Percent Pay Cut

Months ago it was reported that The New Day had parted ways with WWE after the company asked to restructure their contracts. Austin Creed and Kofi declined to do so, and they recently made their debut with All Elite Wrestling when they won the AEW World Trios Championship alongside Swerve Strickland at All In.

Earlier this week The New Day appeared on the Ariel Helwani Show, and Kofi confirmed that they were asked to take a pay cut that would’ve been more than 50 percent of what they were earning.

During a recent episode of Grilling JR, co-hose Conrad Thompson claimed that he has heard WWE actually asked The New Day to take a 75 percent pay cut.

“More than 90 days ago when we found out that New Day was no more in WWE, and there was lots of rumors and innuendo at the time that they were offered a 50 percent pay cut. The rumor and innuendo that I’ve heard is it was actually a 75 percent pay cut. And some of that was confirmed on an interview with Ariel Helwani. Now, they didn’t say 75, but that’s the number I’ve heard bandied around.”

The New Day had been one of the most consistently featured acts on WWE programming for well over a decade, but the duo seemingly got lost in the shuffle after they turned heel last year.

One way or another they seem to have found their place in AEW as they are quickly establishing themselves as top names in the trios and tag team division.
