It’s been years since fans have seen CM Punk wrestle a match inside a WWE ring, but the former World Heavyweight Champion made his return to the wrestling world months ago when he joined WWE Backstage as an analyst.

There’s certainly no shortage of wrestlers who would like to face Punk, and CM Punk himself recently revealed which wrestlers he would be interested in facing if he returned.

However, it’s rumored that WWE pitched an idea for a WrestleMania match which would have seen CM Punk return to face Seth Rollins.

Tom Colohue of Sportskeeda is reporting that WWE wanted Punk to face Rollins at WrestleMania 36, but Punk was not interested.

“The first choice match for Seth Rollins coming into WrestleMania was CM Punk. They wanted to do that match. They wanted to make that match happen. CM Punk was not that interested and they tried a lot to tempt him in.”

Shortly after CM Punk joined WWE Backstage Seth Rollins started openly lobbying for a match against Punk, but it doesn’t look like Punk has an interest in lacing up the boots to face the Monday Night Messiah.
