The Royal Rumble is set to air live from Indianapolis, IN this weekend and anticipation for the event is at an all time high. Fightful Select reports that there was talk of WWE wrestlers mentioning “40 person” Royal Rumbles, but that is not the plan, and the idea hasn’t been discussed or planned. One idea that has been discussed for the future is two night Royal Rumbles. However, there hasn’t been much word on that.

WWE previously held a 40 man Royal Rumble match in 2011 which was billed as the “The Biggest Royal Rumble in History.” Alberto Del Rio ended up picking up the win after he entered the match at number 38. He went on to challenge Edge for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 27, but Del Rio failed to win the gold on the Grandest Stage of Them All that year.

Regarding the women’s Royal Rumble it’s being reported that TJ Wilson, Tyson Kidd, Petey Williams and Kenny Dykstra are set to produce the match.

Fightful has also confirmed PWInsider’s recent report stating that WWE officials are hopeful AJ Styles will be able to return at the Royal Rumble. Other names who haven’t been announced for the event, but are scheduled to be in town include Damian Priest, Tiffany Stratton, Austin Theory, Grayson Waller, Chelsea Green, Dominik Mysterio and Natalya.

Stay tuned for more updates on the Royal Rumble as they become available.
