We’re getting closer and closer to SummerSlam and the card should start coming together over the next few weeks. Recently it was reported that Randy Orton and Drew McIntyre appeared to on track to return in time for SummerSlam, but it looks like Drew will be focused on other projects for now.
PWInsider is reporting that despite reports claiming that Drew McIntyre was set for a return leading into SummerSlam, those rumors are said to be inaccurate as there has been nothing on the table for The Scottish Warrior when it comes to creative.
The reason for that is because Drew McIntyre is said to be circling several other Hollywood projects since returning from filming the new Highlander movie in Scotland.
Deadline reported today that Drew McIntyre has joined the cast of the Russell Crowe action film The Last Druid, and filming for the movie is underway in Spain. According to the report the synopsis for the film is as follows: “A quarter century after Gladiator, the movie will tell the story of a Roman Emperor who discovers a secluded Druid stronghold in the mountains of Caledonia. A peaceful Celtic elder (Crowe) must take up arms to protect his family and people from annihilation. As we reported, Rose Leslie, Andreas Pietschmann, and Daniel Zovatto also star.”
Drew last appeared on WWE programming back in April when he was defeated by Jacob Fatu in an unsanctioned match at WrestleMania 42. Prior to that he had been feuding with Cody Rhodes since last summer, and managed to add another Undisputed WWE Championship reign to his resume when he defeated Cody back in January. He went on to hold the belt for 56 days before dropping it back to Cody in March.
Stay tuned for more updates on Drew’s status as they become available.
