This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite gave fans plenty to talk about as the company aired behind the scenes footage of CM Punk’s altercation with Jack Perry at All In. Will Ospreay also got people talking when he took a shot at Triple H.

Last week during an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, Triple H referenced wrestlers who pick a lighter schedule over the WWE schedule and said, “Because if you’re not in it for the grind in that point in your career, you have no business being here.”

Will Ospreay addressed Triple H’s comments on AEW Dynamite when responded with, “Normally I wouldn’t rise to this type of bait, right? But seeing how the guy who said it is only in the position because he was grinding the boss’ daughter, you have no business telling me what the grind is all about, my friend, because you have no idea what I fight for.”

It’s been rumored that the idea for the line was presented to Ospreay, but Fightful Select is now reporting that sources close to the situation claim that the line about Triple H was actually Will Ospreay’s idea.

According to the report Will Ospreay was fine with cutting the promo and there were no issues. It was noted that Ospreay actually came in to work with the creative team on the promo.

Ospreay ran the promo by several people backstage, and at one point a shot at CM Punk was considered for the promo due to Punk referencing Will Ospreay’s tattoo last week. Ultimately the feeling was that the CM Punk line would be overkill given the nature of this week’s episode of Dynamite, so they decided against it.
