Roman Reigns defeated CM Punk to become the new World Heavyweight Champion at WrestleMania in April, and shortly after Jacob Fatu stepped up to let Roman know he wanted the title. The Tribal Chief defeated Jacob to retain the title at Backlash, but their feud didn’t end there.
Jacob Fatu continued to target Roman Reigns, and he challenged Reigns to a Tribal Combat match at Clash in Italy, which Roman accepted under the condition that Jacob would serve The Tribal Chief if Roman won, or be fired.
Shortly after the match kicked off at Clash in Italy, the action spilled to the outside as Roman Reigns and Jacob Fatu battled throughout the arena. They made their way back to the ringside area as the fans chanted “we want tables,” so Roman pulled a table out from under the ring. Shortly after Roman threw the ring steps over the top rope onto Jacob on the outside. He then connected with a drive by kick that sent Jacob flying into the ring post.
Roman ended up spearing Jacob Fatu through the barricade. The action then returned to the ring and Roman speared Jacob again, but Jacob kicked out at two.
The Tribal Chief pulled the top turnbuckle pads off of three different ring posts. Jacob stood up and tried for the Tongan Death Grip, but Roman fought out of it and countered with a Superman Punch. He slammed Jacob’s haead into two of the exposed turnbuckles then went for a spear, but Jacob countered with a spear of his own for a two count.
Roman went for another spear and Jacob countered with a Samoan Drop followed by a moonsault. Roman kicked out. Reigns repeatedly slammed Jacob’s head into the exposed turnbuckle then speared him through a table that was set up in the corner. Jacob got right back to his feet and Roman hit another spear to win the match.
After the match The Usos came out and put the Ula Fala around Roman’s neck. Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga watched on from ringside. Jacob stared at Solo’s crew as Jey Uso motioned for him to catch up and get behind the Tribal Chief as the show went off the air.
