Roman Reigns has been the top star in WWE for years now, so he has a good understanding of what it means to be the face of the company. Over the years there have been many big names who have claimed the top spot in WWE, which has resulted in a lot of talk about who is truly the greatest of all time.
While sharing his opinions on who the greatest of all time is on Club Shay Shay, Roman Reigns gave a nod to Hulk Hogan for elevating the business, while also praising Steve Austin and The Rock.
“That’s tough, because I think I’d go with Hulk [Hogan]. It’s hard not to say Steve [Austin], but then Dwayne [The Rock], I really respect how he did it. It was just lightning in a bottle. You’ve never seen it like that. Nobody picked it up so quickly and at such a jump. It was just like, yeah, this guy doesn’t really have it figured out yet. He’s finding it, you know, early on, with The Rock trying to figure out that character. And then boom, superstardom in a matter of, what, 18 months? Then he was able to just go, like, ‘I don’t need the machine anymore.’ So, in a way, there’s a GOAT factor to that. It’s just like, man, because everything he does, he represents us. He’s always going to be a WWE figure. He’s always going to be The Rock.
But I don’t know. I mean, Steve was just insanely popular. No one’s ever pushed merch like Steve, without having crazy this and that. I mean, he had a bunch of merch, but Hulk had a crazy amount of merch, you know what I mean? Like, every little thing you could think of. Tassels, you know? But Hulk also took us from a carnival to a global product, you know what I mean? So that’s a tough one.”
Roman Reigns also recently responded to Conrad Thompson’s claims that he is overrated, and you can get more details on that here.
