Pro Wrestling Illustrated has recently their annual top 500 and Roman Reigns sits at the top this year.

The evaluation period took place between July 1, 2015 and July 30, 2016. In between those dates Roman Reigns won the WWE Championship three times and he defeated Triple H in the main event of WrestleMania 32. PWI also did an interview with Roman Reigns, and he seems thrilled to be in the number one spot this year.

“Thank you, man. It’s crazy. Last year, was I what, three or four? To just remain in that same company, to be in that class with those guys, it’s world class,” he said. “It’s a great honor and it goes with a lot of hard work. It’s very flattering. It just shows that if you keep your head down and stick to your day-to-day, you grind it out and take the long road, good things happen. It’s a great achievement and another great accolade.”

It’s noted in the magazine that the criteria for the list, in order of importance, are as follows:

  • Win-Loss Record
  • Technical Ability
  • Influence On The Sport
  • Success Against The Highest Grade Of Competition
  • Activity

Other wrestlers who made the list include Kazuchika Okada who placed at number 2, followed by Finn Balor at number 3, AJ Styles at number 4 and Jay Lethal at number 5.
