This week’s episode of Monday Night Raw was one of the most anticipated shows in some time as it aired live from Mexico City, and featured huge main event as Roman Reigns defended the World Heavyweight Championship against Penta.
Penta made his way out to the ring first and he received a massive ovation from the fans. After his music stopped the fans chanted for Penta for a few minutes before Roman’s music hit. The Tribal Chief was heavily booed by the audience in Mexico City.
After a few minutes of back and forth Roman got the upper hand and slowed down the pace. He then walked around the ring as he taunted the fans numerous times.
Penta made a comeback and connected with a Backstabber for a two count. The challenger followed up with a springboard tornado DDT on Roman for another two count. Penta targeted Roman’s arm as he hit the Sacrifice. Roman sold the pain after he fought off Pena with a standing Uranage. Outside the ring The Tribal Chief connected with the Drive By.
Back in the ring Roman pummeled Penta with clotheslines in the corner then followed up with a big boot. The OTC continued to sell the pain in his arm. Roman called for the spear, but paused as his arm was in pain when he punched the mat to set up the move. They ended up back on the outside and Roman powerbombed Penta onto the announce table then threw him into the ring again.
Roman tried for the Superman Punch and Penta reversed it into the Penta Driver. Roman kicked out. Penta tried for the Mexican Destroyer, but Roman countered with the Superman Punch.
They got to their feet and Roman tried for another spear, but Penta dodged it. Penta connected with the Mexican Destroyer as Roman fell into the corner then charged forward as he hit Penta with a spear then Penta kicked out at two. The Tribal Chief started to get frustrated as he pummeled Penta while the fans booed.
Roman asked for a microphone and demanded that the fans in Mexico City acknowledge him. The fans booed instead. Penta hit Roman with a superkick followed by a springboard Mexican Destroyer, but Roman still kicked out.
They both got to their knees as Roman and Penta exchanged strikes. The back and forth continued as they got to their feet. Pena hit another superkick, followed by two more. He tried for another springboard move, but Roman countered with a Superman Punch. Roman finally connected with the spear to retain the World Heavyweight Championship.
