For years now WWE has been pushing Roman Reigns as the face of the company, and he was originally scheduled to challenge Bill Goldberg for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 36.
However, The Big Dog pulled out of WWE’s biggest show of the year, and he hasn’t made an appearance on WWE programming in some time.
Roman Reigns recently spoke out on his absence and said that he would love to return to work, but he has two newborn boys at home, and is putting their health first during the coronavirus pandemic.
Many talents were released last month due to coronavirus related budget cuts, and Deonna Purrazzo was among the names released.
She recently spoke to the Wrestling Inc Daily podcast about the Roman Reigns situation, and she said that she can’t imagine there would be heat on him for pulling out given his history.
“Honestly, I don’t know. I feel like, for his health he has to do that because he’s been sick and is very susceptible. That needs to be understood. I think it’s different if it’s a healthy person saying, ‘Oh, I don’t think it’s safe and I’m not gonna do it.’ But for someone who beat leukemia, you have to not put heat on that person because that’s a real-life, serious disease that this man overcame. He can’t get that again and possibly come out with the same outcome. So, I can’t imagine there would be heat on him for making that choice.”
At this point it’s not clear when The Big Dog will be back, as it was recently reported that Roman Reigns is in no rush to return.
