It’s no big secret that WWE has released a number of wrestlers throughout 2026, and last month it was reported that ten more names were let go including Anya Rune.
It was announced back in March of 2026 that Anya Rune had signed a WWE ID contract and she went on to compete in a handful of matches on WWE Evolve while still wrestling on the independent circuit. Following her release she went on to wrestle one more match at the HCW Independent Road 2026 event on September 26, but now it appears that Anya Rune is done with wrestling altogether.
Recently she took to social media to announce that she has decided to take a step back from wrestling. Rune noted that she is not sure how long the break is going to last when she posted the following:
“Hi everybody. I know a post like this is gonna let a lot of you down but I feel like its very necessary. Hell, I never thought I would end up making a post like this.
I need to take a step back from wrestling. Both for my physical and mental health. I don’t know how long this is going to last but I’m hoping to find a new love for it in the time I will be spending away. I will be keeping my social media somewhat active, it’ll just be less wrestling related content.
I have unfortunately fallen out of love with wrestling but that doesn’t mean I don’t love everything its given me.
I love and appreciate every single last one of you guys who have continued to support me through everything. Thank you so much 💚”
