The 2022 Royal Rumble premium live event was full of interesting moments as Bobby Lashley defeated Brock Lesnar to win the WWE Championship, and Brock Lesnar later went on to win the 30 man Royal Rumble match.

Matt Riddle competed in the 2022 men’s Royal Rumble match, but he was eliminated by Brock Lesnar. Recently Riddle talked a little bit about the match during a Signed By Superstars virtual signing and he claimed that he was told he would be winning the Royal Rumble at one point.

“So I believe — you know, it’s sports-entertainment — that I was told at one point, yeah, I was gonna win the (Royal) Rumble and everything else and then what was it? Bobby Lashley beat Brock Lesnar because somebody came in and hit him with the belt or what have you. Then Brock came in, didn’t wanna do business with everybody, said he was winning, and then he won, and then none of the producers… nobody stood up to him and they let him do it. I didn’t either, I didn’t either. I’m like, f*** man, I’m just here.”

Ultimately Brock Lesnar went on to win the WWE Championship at Elimination Chamber, but he was defeated by WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns in a winner takes all match at WrestleMania 38. Reigns is still the current Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.
