Paul Heyman certainly has an eye for talent, and Heyman also has a reputation for accentuating the strengths of certain talents. When Paul Heyman took on the role of Executive Director of Monday Night Raw it was clear that he had certain stars he wanted to feature, one of which was Buddy Murphy.

Buddy Murphy recently spoke to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful about his relationship with Paul Heyman, and he noted that Heyman would pull him aside and ask him why he wasn’t on TV every week.

“So I’m a Paul Heyman Guy. He had always been honest with me. He’s a massive advocate of me. Backstage he would always pull me aside and always talk to me. He’d be like, ‘I don’t understand what they’re doing. How are you not on TV every week?’ And I don’t know. Everything that I’ve done I felt like I’ve given you my all. I felt like everything that I was giving, I hit it out of the park.”

“[Paul Heyman] was always good to me. He’d ask me how I’m not on TV, how they’re messing up,” added Murphy. “So when he did take me to RAW, I felt like I could approach him about our ideas and the overall idea with Aleister [Black] and stuff like that. He was big on Aleister, he was big on me. He was excited to work with us.”

Aleister Black is another name that Paul Heyman was high on, and both Black and Murphy got people talking when they feuded on Raw. Unfortunately for Black and Murphy they were both released this year, but Black recently made his debut this week with AEW.

At this point it’s not clear where Buddy Murphy might end up when his non-compete clause expires. Stay tuned for updates.
