Recently WWE released a total of 18 Superstars, and there were certainly some surprising names on the list, but it sounds like there were at least 2 names who were looking to leave the company prior to the cuts.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that both Lince Dorado and Gran Metalik requested to be released after they were asked to lose to Humberto Carillo and Angel Garza during the Main Event tapings in Boston on 9/13.

It’s being reported that there were people in the company who viewed the match as punishment for Dorado, as he was booked to take the fall in a loss to a makeshift team, and Gran Metalik was usually the one to take the fall.

At the time there were no plans in place for Carillo and Garza, and Dorado was hot after the match. Dorado asked to talk to Vince McMahon, and Dorado wanting to talk to Vince McMahon over the result of a match that was set to air on Main Event was not viewed well.

Lince Dorado was the first one to ask for his release after the match, and Gran Metalik reportedly agreed to ask for his release as well. It’s being said that Metalik wanted out, but he wasn’t the kind of guy who would have asked.

The release requests were not granted, but it wasn’t seen as a good sign when Dorado and Metalik were not mentioned in the recent draft, and the belief is that they wouldn’t have survived the recent cuts either way.
